is a cooperation between the General Hospital Linz and the Childrenīs Hospital Linz,
offering
high quality care for all children and young adults with congenital
heart disease according to the latest medical knowledge. Presently we
care for more than 7000 cardiac patients, 2009 a total of more than 300
cardiac procedures have been performed.
The team of the Childrenīs
Heart Center Linz consists of highly qualified doctors, nurses,
psychologists and technicians, who are able to offer the complete
spectrum of modern pediatric cardiology at the highest standard:
prenatal (fetal) echocardiography,
all kinds of non-invasive imaging especially echocardiography,
cardiac catheterization with interventions and especially an excellent
pediatric cardiac surgery service
offering neonatal surgery
and state of the art intensive care.
The Childrenīs Heart Center Linz is specialized in fetal (perinatal) cardiology, in early primary repair of complex heart defects in the neonatal or infant period and in the treatment of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, the worst kind of congenital heart disease.
In
2008 about 1/3 of all cardiac procedures were done in neonates, all
together more than 2/3 of all patients were infants. Our results are in
the range of the best international centers.
It is important to us
that parents are continuously involved by extensive information,
psychological care is offered to parents and older children before,
during and after admissions, parents can stay with their children in
the hospital and there are no restrictions for visiting.
It is our goal to not only improve survival for children with
congenital heart disease but also to offer optimal quality of life as
well as life expectancy.
